Blissful Balance Retreat

commences Apr 15, 2011 with

Find the balance between Stira and Sukha (effort and ease) on the mat and in your life! This retreat will help you find physical balance, by building core strength and awareness of alignment, and the emotional balance that comes with accepting both your limitations and your ability to transcend them.

You will find your center in the laying and seated postures, then bring that awareness into standing, inverted and even arco-yoga sequences.

There will be a mix of gentle and challenging asana (and many options in between): some will be quiet and contemplative; others playful and fun! There will also be Yoga Nidra, meditation sessions, plenty of free time to relax and to help cultivate the balance between being and doing.

About Retreats at Clearview

This is a range of workshops and retreats to expand and deepen your understanding of yoga and meditation. In a class situation, you often only get to practice postures.  Yoga has an insightful, practical and fascinating body of knowledge regarding the workings of the mind and soul, as relevant today as it was 4,000 years ago.

Each Weekend Mountain Yoga Retreat involves yoga classes, relaxation, meditation, some periods of silence, and guided walks. The structure of each workshop is the same, but different themes are focused on each weekend. Two-day retreats have five yoga sessions. Three-day retreats have seven yoga sessions. Four-day retreats have nine yoga sessions.

Free time between yoga sessions allows guests to rest and explore the natural beauty of Victoria. Optional massage can be booked separately. Class sizes are kept small and students of all levels of experience are welcome.

If there are areas of particular interest or special needs, i.e. injuries or pregnancy, please let us know in advance so we are able to better tailor the program to suit you.

Home-cooked, delicious, inspiring vegetarian meals are provided, beginning with Friday night dinner. Special diets are catered for.

About the Facilitator

Jo Stewart balances a respect of the traditions of yoga with a fresh reinterpretation. She considers it a joy and privilege to share her knowledge with others. Her studies in Melbourne: Adv. Diploma Yoga Teaching CAE and Soma Chi certification give her a technical foundation, while recent travels in India have provided her with an inspiring view of the history of yoga and its integration into people's everyday lives. Personally Jo has found that practicing yoga helps her to enjoy art and life, and produce to her full potential - while her background in art encourages a unique approach to respectfully reinterpreting yoga, ensuring her classes are never dull. Combining art and asana (physical yoga) helps to free blocked creative energy, bringing a meditative mindfulness to art and life, and creating a fun, fresh and creative approach to beginning or revitalizing a yoga practice.
